Ingredients:

  • 10โ€“12 fresh habanero peppers, stemmed
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • ยฝ cup water
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon honey or sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ยฝ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Heat the olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add the onion and garlic and sautรฉ for 3โ€“4 minutes until softened.
  3. Add the habanero peppers and cook for another 2โ€“3 minutes.
  4. Pour in the vinegar, water, and lime juice.
  5. Add the honey, salt, and black pepper.
  6. Simmer for 10โ€“15 minutes until the peppers are tender.
  7. Let the mixture cool slightly.
  8. Transfer everything to a blender and blend until smooth.
  9. Add cilantro if using and blend again.
  10. Pour into sterilized bottles or jars and refrigerate.

Storage:

  • Keeps in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.
  • The flavor gets even better after 24โ€“48 hours.
