Ding Dong Cake (Chocolate Cake with Cream Filling)

A homemade version of the classic Ding Dongs—moist chocolate cake layers filled with fluffy cream and covered in smooth chocolate ganache. Rich, soft, and nostalgic.

🧂 Ingredients (simple list)
Chocolate cake:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 ¾ cups sugar
¾ cup cocoa powder
1 ½ tsp baking powder
1 ½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
2 eggs
1 cup milk
½ cup oil
1 cup hot coffee (boosts chocolate flavor)
Cream filling:
1 cup butter (softened)
2 cups powdered sugar
1 jar marshmallow fluff
1 tsp vanilla
Chocolate ganache:
200g chocolate
1 cup heavy cream
👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Bake cake
    Mix dry ingredients
    Add eggs, milk, oil → mix
    Stir in hot coffee
    Pour into two pans
    Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 25–30 min
    Cool completely
  2. Make filling
    Beat butter + powdered sugar
    Add marshmallow fluff + vanilla → fluffy
  3. Assemble
    Place one cake layer
    Spread thick cream filling
    Add second layer
  4. Ganache
    Heat cream → pour over chocolate → mix smooth
    Pour ganache over cake
    Chill slightly before slicing
