Ingredients
- 2 ribeye steaks (about 1 inch thick)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp coarse salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed
- 2 tbsp butter
- Fresh rosemary or thyme (optional)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Steak
- Remove the steaks from the refrigerator 30 minutes before cooking.
- Pat dry with paper towels.
- Rub with olive oil and season generously with salt and pepper.
2. Sear
- Heat a cast-iron skillet over high heat until very hot.
- Add the steaks and sear for 3–4 minutes per side.
3. Baste
- Add butter, garlic, and rosemary.
- Spoon the melted butter over the steaks for 1–2 minutes.
4. Check Doneness
- For Medium-Rare, cook until the internal temperature reaches 54–57°C (130–135°F).
5. Rest
- Remove from heat and let rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing.
