Fried Vidalia Onion Rings

Ingredients:

2 large Vidalia onions

1 cup buttermilk

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup cornmeal

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

Peel the Vidalia onions and slice them into thick rings. Separate the rings carefully and place them in a bowl with the buttermilk. Let soak for about 20 minutes.

In another bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.

Remove the onion rings from the buttermilk and coat them thoroughly in the flour mixture.

Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or fryer over medium-high heat. Fry the onion rings in batches for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.

Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
